Measures incoming air mass for engine management.

Its measured signal helps the controller determine fueling and check airflow plausibility.

Incorrect readings can affect running, but unmetered-air leaks and wiring can mimic sensor failure.
Filters follow the vehicle service schedule; ducts and boost hardware are inspected for condition, sealing and operation.
A hose or filter is generally simpler to service than a turbo assembly. Access and diagnosis can dominate cost.
