S85 · V10
A 5.0-liter naturally aspirated V10. Ten cylinders and a high-revving design give the S85 its distinctive architecture.

Ten cylinders. Two banks.
The S85 has two banks of five cylinders, 4,999 cm³ displacement and a European full-output rating of 373 kW, approximately 507 PS.
Individual throttle control.
Ten throttle butterflies meter air to the cylinders. This is a naturally aspirated engine, with no turbocharger compressing the intake air.
Built to rev.
BMW specifies a maximum engine speed of 8,250 rpm. Peak power occurs at 7,750 rpm; maximum torque is 520 Nm at 6,100 rpm.
Full output is selectable.
The E60 M5 starts in its reduced-output P400 program. The figures shown are for full output, not the startup program. This audio simulator does not reproduce those power modes.
