The M5 discovers the hot-V.
The F10 M5 trades the previous generation’s V10 for a twin-turbo V8. Its turbochargers sit between the cylinder banks, making it an excellent car for exploring how packaging changes engine design.

Document maintenance and inspect the exact engine revision.
The two turbochargers sit in the V between the cylinder banks.
S63TU · V8
A 4,395 cm³ twin-turbo V8 with the turbochargers between the cylinder banks and Valvetronic. This is the S63B44T0 revision, commonly called S63TU.

The hot-V layout.
The exhaust sides of the cylinder heads face into the V. Two turbochargers sit between the banks, shortening exhaust paths.
S63 revisions matter.
The F10 M5 uses S63B44T0. The photograph is a later F90 engine-family reference; the exploded diagram is from the F10 M5 catalogue.
Intake-valve lift control.
Valvetronic varies intake-valve lift. VANOS separately adjusts camshaft timing.
