Brakes

Brake-fluid reservoir

Stores the fluid supply for the hydraulic braking system.

Where it sits

Above or connected to the brake master cylinder.

How it works

The reservoir allows level monitoring and feeds the hydraulic circuit; specified fluid compatibility matters.

Think of it as

The supply tank above a hydraulic pump.

Symptoms when it fails

Low level may reflect pad wear or a leak and should not be treated as a refill-only problem.

Lifespan

Pads and discs are measured wear items. Driving, environment and regenerative braking change wear; use the actual inspection limits.

Repair cost

Ordinary friction service differs greatly from carbon-ceramic replacement or hydraulic-controller work; obtain a vehicle-specific quote.

The BMW angle

BMW brake-fluid maintenance is time- and model-specific; fluid type must follow the vehicle specification.

Used in

BMW models with hydraulic friction brakes; performance equipment and parking-brake design vary.
