Wheel bearing
Lets the wheel rotate smoothly while supporting vehicle loads.
Inside the hub or wheel carrier.
Rolling elements carry radial and axial loads through protected bearing races.
A low-friction support around the wheel’s rotating center.
A speed-related hum or play can involve bearings, tires or another rotating component.
Inspect tread, age, pressure and damage rather than using appearance alone. Wheels and bearings are assessed for condition.
Inflation correction is small work; tire sets, forged wheels and damaged hubs can be much larger expenses.
BMW bearing assemblies can include a magnetic encoder used by wheel-speed sensing.
