The M5 Touring returns with a plug.
The G99 brings the M5 estate concept back with the V8-and-electric M Hybrid system. It joins the G90 saloon while giving the same generation a different luggage and passenger proposition.

S68 + eDrive · V8 + electric motor

S68 + eDrive · Plug-in hybrid
The G99 brings the M5 Touring back with a twin-turbo 4.4-litre V8 and an electric motor. Its headline 727 PS and 1,000 Nm describe the coordinated hybrid system, rather than the petrol engine alone.
Two exhaust-driven turbochargers
Exhaust energy turns a turbine connected to an intake-air compressor. Charge-air cooling reduces the heat added as the air is compressed. The displayed turbo count describes the selected engine.
M xDrive all-wheel drive
The electric motor is integrated into the eight-speed M Steptronic transmission. M xDrive distributes drive between both axles; the Touring adds a large tailgate and flexible load compartment.
System output and engine output
The petrol engine contributes up to 585 PS and 750 Nm. Engine and motor reach their maximum ratings under different conditions, so their individual peaks are not simply added. A rechargeable battery also enables electric driving.
