The M2 CS takes the F87 further with carbon-fibre bonnet and roof construction and adaptive M suspension. It remains a separate specification from the M2 Competition.

S55 · Inline-six
The F87 M2 CS uses a 450 PS version of the twin-turbo S55 straight-six. Its bonnet and roof use carbon-fibre construction, and adaptive M suspension forms part of the CS specification.

S55 · Petrol
The F87 M2 CS uses a 450 PS version of the twin-turbo S55 straight-six. Its bonnet and roof use carbon-fibre construction, and adaptive M suspension forms part of the CS specification.
Two exhaust-driven turbochargers
Exhaust energy turns a turbine connected to an intake-air compressor. Charge-air cooling reduces the heat added as the air is compressed. The displayed turbo count describes the selected engine.
Rear-wheel drive
A six-speed manual transmission is standard; a seven-speed M dual-clutch gearbox was optional. Both drive the rear wheels through an Active M Differential. The later G87 M2 CS is a different model.
