N54 · Inline-six
A 3.0-litre twin-turbo straight-six gives the 1 Series M Coupé its broad torque delivery. The displayed 450 Nm is nominal peak torque; its temporary overboost can raise this to 500 Nm.

Two turbochargers
Two exhaust-driven turbochargers compress the intake air. Charge-air cooling removes heat added during compression.
Rear-wheel drive
A six-speed manual gearbox sends torque to the rear axle through an M differential lock. Its compact body brought M engineering into the first-generation 1 Series Coupé.
